Our flagship initiative, Chester Heritage Festival, transforms the city for two vibrant weeks each year with a carefully curated programme of walks, talks, workshops, films and performances.
The festival brings together local historians, artists, businesses and residents to celebrate Chester's remarkable heritage while discovering new stories and perspectives on our historic city.

Heritage Open Days returns 11–20 September,
and this year, it's all about Everyday History Heroes.
From the volunteers who keep our historic buildings alive to the hidden figures who shaped our streets, we're celebrating the people behind Cheshire's story — the ones you won't always find in
the textbooks.
Free events, tours, talks and hands-on experiences across the city and beyond.

Every November, discover the stories behind Chester's iconic Rows during our annual Rowvember celebration.
From archaeological tales and business spotlights to guided tours, treasure hunts and surprise performances - there's something for everyone to explore and enjoy in these unique galleries.
