About the Event
Chester’s Rows have been at the heart of city life for over 700 years, and this Rowvember we’re inviting everyone to help care for them. Join us for the Rows Clean on Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd November and spend a few hours getting to know this remarkable part of Chester up close.
Volunteers will be deep cleaning the walkways and stalls, sweeping away cobwebs, removing graffiti and doing some painting. It’s satisfying work with results you can see straight away - and there’s something rather special about walking the Rows afterwards knowing you helped them shine.
Whether you come along on your own, with friends or with colleagues, it’s a friendly, relaxed way to meet people who love the city as much as you do. Come for a morning, an afternoon or both - every pair of hands makes a difference.
When and where
Meet at the Cross at either:
9am for the morning session
1pm for the afternoon session, after the lunch break
Can’t make those times? No problem - just look out for volunteers working along the Rows and they’ll point you towards the event coordinator.
What to wear
Please wear sensible shoes and old clothes you don’t mind getting a bit grubby.
Please Note: This is an active session involving standing, bending, reaching and some light lifting, so please come prepared to be on your feet. If you have any access needs or questions about what’s involved, just let the event coordinator know and we’ll do our best to find a task that suits you.
