Find all Three of our Pub Stops:

The Boot, Eastgate Street

Located in the heart of Chester's famous Rows, The Boot is the perfect setting to explore retail history with Rebecca Andrew and Maria Barnard, who'll delve into the story of the Rows and the iconic Browns department store. Lee Bilson will showcase the intricate heritage craft skills used in the ongoing Rows repair works, including the art of stained glass restoration.

The Brewery Tap, Lower Bridge Street

Step into one of Chester's most atmospheric pubs and meet Mike Emery, who'll reveal the secrets of the nearby Gamul House and share insights into the area's rich archaeological heritage. Morn Capper will transport you back to early-medieval Chester, bringing the city's historic buildings to life with expert knowledge of their construction and stories.

Beer Heroes, Watergate Street

Discover Roman Chester in a completely new way with Ben Edwards, who'll demonstrate cutting-edge technology including Minecraft reconstructions of Roman Chester and hi-res 3D scanning of museum objects. Liz Montgomery will bring history to your hands with fascinating artefacts from the Grosvenor Museum collection.

This is a free event, though we warmly encourage you to support our wonderful local businesses by purchasing a drink at each stop. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply curious about Chester's heritage, this trail offers a unique opportunity to learn from the experts in a relaxed, sociable setting.
