Chester Quaker Meeting House

Drop in and visit the Chester Quaker Meeting House on Saturday 19 September from 10am- 4.30pm. The current Meeting House built in 1974 replaced the previous one that had been built in 1703.

Visit a 20th Century building that houses a faith group that has been committed to equality and peace since it was founded in the 17th Century and present in Chester since that time.

Be welcomed into our spacious, light and airy interior and enjoy a selection of complimentary hot drinks and homemade cakes.

It may surprise you who are contemporary Quakers and who have been Quakers in the past as our simple displays will identify. Other displays will, for example, highlight the role of Quakers in the abolition of slavery.

Please note as part of the open day on Saturday 19th September there will be a talk by Paul Hyde on ‘All Change: Chester in the 1960s & 70s - the New, the Lost & the Saved'– an illustrated talk from 3pm until 4.15pm in the Large Meeting Room but other rooms will be open with displays and refreshments. The talk is bookable via Eventbrite from Monday 24 August at 12pm.

The What3Words Location: ///trio/tuned/offers – centre of the building. The entrance to the building is on Union Walk off Frodsham Street (eastern side) – attendees should enter and proceed up the stairs or via the lift to the first floor.

The closest car park to the meeting point is: Tescos on Frodsham Street, Chester. Alternative parking at Delamere Street Car Park. CH1 3EQ.

• Is the venue fully accessible (without steps, rough ground, steep gradients)?

Yes, the venue is fully accessible, the Meeting House is on the first floor but there is a lift available.

• Is this event suitable for children?

The event is intended for adults, but older children interested in learning about the Quakers are welcome if accompanied.

• Is this event dog friendly

Unfortunately, we are not able to welcome dogs on this event.
